Roots Opens For Lunch! Starting June 11th

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

We know, we know. It’s about damn time. We heard you, and have responded in a big way. We are pleased to announce that the first phase of the Roots expansion is nearly complete, and to celebrate, we offer you LUNCH! Yes, we are now open for lunch, Mondays- Fridays from 11:30 to 2:30.

In considering our lunch service, we knew that we had to do it right. Our beer kicks ass, and we knew that we had to get our food up to the same level. We’ve always made everything from scratch, using only the freshest, locally-grown, organic produce. We’ve always settled for nothing less than all-natural meats, which we hand-smoke with love. So, what could be better than that? We hired a Head Chef to run our brand-new kitchen. Allow us to introduce you to Chef Chris Helmintaler. He’s from Phoenix, Arizona. He has over twenty years of kitchen experience, ten of which as an executive chef. He’s prepared a fabulous lunch menu [hyperlink to the menu page] with all-new, healthy soups, salads, and sandwiches to tell your friends about. He’s still working on the dinner menu, which we hope to announce soon.

When asked about his new role as Head Chef at Roots, Chris replied, “I’m very excited to be a part of this new expansion of Roots and to have the opportunity to turn Roots Brewing Company into a real player in the Portland restaurant scene. You guys have already grabbed a foothold in the brewing scene and are killing it; now it’s my turn to grab a foothold for the restaurant side of things and kill it.” We want people to say, “Man! Roots has great food! It’s different from everyone else and it’s exciting.” Well, Chris, we say to you, “Welcome to Roots! We’re excited you’re here, so show us your magic and kick some ass!”

Three year Anniversary Party, SAT. 3-15-08

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Root Organic Brewing Co. is turning 3 years old!

We had a very successful year full of growth and expansion, new food and beers, great art shows and music and we know we couldn’t have done it without you!

So Roots would like to show our appreciation to all our loyal customers by offering everything on our menu from, 6pm till midnight for only $3.00! (EXCLUDING MERCHANDISE) Come join all the fun with live music, great food and the release of our Anniversary/Spring beer, Belgian, Farmhouse Bruin. %6 ABV.

Also known as bi`ere du pays, (country beers), farmhouse ales were brewed in between end of winter and early spring. Farmhouse ales branch off into two families, Saison and Bi`ere de garde, Saison predominantly from southern Belgium and Bi`ere de garde from northern France. They vary in styles, alcohol, body and color. The nice thing about brewing within either one of these styles is that one can brew outside the box. These beers we’re brewed more - less out of necessity, “provision beer”, to drink during the rest of the year.

WEDNESDAY JAN 16TH. 6 pm, NEVERMINED PALE ALE RELEASE PARTY

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Please join us for a non-toxic release into the environment: Nevermined Pale Ale Roots is supporting the work of Portland-based Center for Environmental Equity (CEE) by hosting a release party for Nevermined Pale Ale on Wednesday, January 16, at 6pm. Larry and John Tuttle will give a small lecture and slide show presentation on CEE and it’s goals.

CEE a Portland-based non-profit, successfully petitioned the EPA to secure funding and to clean up the abandoned Formosa Silver Butte Mine. Formosa Silver Butte has released millions of gallons of heavy-metal laden, acid-mine drainage into the Umpqua River watershed. Heavy-Metals found in most mine run-offs have been linked to all kinds of cancers and other diseases.

Roots understands the need to protect our watersheds and guarantee clean water for future generations. For this reason, Roots will donate 10% percent of Nevermined Pale Ale sales to CEE. CEE is currently targeting two other abandoned mines in Oregon for cleanup. For more information come to the release party on Wednesday, Jan 16th, at 6pm, or visit nevermined.org .

2007 EPIC ALE RELEASE PARTY

ROOTS ORGANIC BREWING COMPANY TO RELEASE 2007 EPIC ALE

PORTLAND, Ore – The cult classic returns on December 21, 2007, when the Roots Organic Brewing Company officially releases this year’s Epic Ale. Just the thing to warm the belly on cold nights, the 2007 Epic Ale boasts a serious 14% ABV.

The Roots brewers hand-smoke the malt for this blend over cherry wood soaked in Glenlivet, cognac, and cherry juice, which adds a wonderful smoky toffee flavor and cherry notes to the pallet and nose, and a warm, bittersweet finish. 2005 marked the first batch of the heady brew, with 2006’s run available for sale in the pub and in collectible 2 liter magnums.

2007’s Epic Ale will be bottled with its new label in 200, more approachably-sized magnums, and will be available for sale only at the brewery and Belmont Station while supplies last. The release party will kick off at 6:00 pm at the Roots Brewery pub at 1520 SE 7th, and promises great music and tasty food. The first kegs on tap will be 2006’s Epic Ale, which has been aged for 15 months.

Roots Organic Brewing Company, the first certified all-organic brewery in the state of Oregon, opened in March of 2005. Roots is an industry leader in the organic brewing movement, producing unique new beers using old-fashioned brewing techniques. Roots’ main objective is to further the idea that healthy living leads to a healthy planet, while making the best-quality beers in the world!
